Rajeev Vidhani is a Partner in the banking & finance and Insolvency & restructuring team at Khaitan & Co., Mumbai. He has a special focus on private credit, special situations and distressed acquisition transactions. 

Rajeev is well recognised in the field of financing and insolvency laws, with recognition from leading legal directories such as IFLR and Legal 500. He received the Corporate Lawyer of the Year Award from the Economic Times in 2025 and has been listed amongst the Top 100 leading lawyers in India by Forbes India for 2022-23. Additionally, he was recognised as one of the 40 leading lawyers in India under the age of 40 by Legal Era in 2021-22. 

Some of his recent representations include advising on the financing and refinancing of acquisition of CDPQ’s stake by R Dinesh in TVS SCS through multiple private credit and institutional investors, financing of acquisition by Mr Mayanka Jalan of Mandala Capital’s stake in Keventer Global, debt extended by SC Lowy to Pharande Group for refinancing the debt of Altico Capital, listed NCD funding by a FPI investor of acquisition of a real estate asset through SARFAESI private sale by Purvankara Group from an existing lender of MAN Realty, part financing by SCB of the IBC acquisition of Sintex BAPL by Welspun Group, and advising ARES SSG on its investment in a fund which acquired a large wholesale debt portfolio from IIFL Group. 

He has also advised on various successful resolution plans in IBC such as Vedanta Limited’s plan for Meenakshi Energy Limited, Resurgent Ventures’ plan for South-East UP Power Transmission Limited and TCG Group’s resolution plan for Garden Silk Mills Limited. He also advised various resolution professionals on CIRP such as Mr Ashish Chhawchharia on Essar Power MP.

Rajeev also had a brief stint with the Global Loans team of Ashurst LLP in its Sydney Office in the year 2018.

Great Eastern Energy Corporation Limited

Advised on a syndicated facility of INR 500 million extended by a syndicate of lenders led by ICICI Bank Ltd for part financing the costs of development of a coal bed methane extraction facility in West Bengal

JP Morgan Europe

Advised on senior and mezzanine facilities aggregating to GBP  235 million provided to offshore subsidiaries of Lodha Group India for acquisition of a property in London

Deutsche Bank

Advised on issue and listing of secured, rated, redeemable non-convertible debentures by Altico Capital India Private Limited aggregating to INR 2 billion on a private placement basis

Vedanta Limited

Advised on preparation of its successful resolution plan for acquisition of Electrosteel Steels Limited which is currently undergoing corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) under Insolvency Code
