Anshuman is a Mumbai based partner with KCO. Anshuman had started his career with KCO in 2009 and after spending over 5 years at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as a partner in their competition law practice, has re-joined the Firm in May 2022. Anshuman’s practice covers the full spectrum of Indian competition/antitrust law including advising on complex merger control cases, abuse of dominance and cartel investigations, joint venture and distribution agreements and antitrust audits and compliance. He has been involved in several leniency applications filed with the Competition Commission of India. He has advised clients across various sectors such as technology, financial services, pharmaceutical, auto and auto components, heavy machinery, aviation, chemicals, and infrastructure sectors including ports, roads and power.

In the past couple of years, some of the major transactions Anshuman has advised on include Siemens’ acquisition of C&S Electric, Adani group’s acquisition of Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram Ports, Adani group’s acquisition of the Mumbai International Airport, Government of India’s divestment of Air India, Blackstone’s acquisition of control in ASK Investment Managers, Baring Private Equity Asia’s acquisition of Virtusa Corporation, L&T Finance Holdings in the sale of L&T Mutual Fund to HSBC, Axis Bank in its acquisition of control over Max Life Insurance and Oman Investment Corporation’s acquisition of Sembcorp Energy India Limited. On the enforcement side, Anshuman has recently successfully defended Viterra India Private Limited against charges of cartelisation.

Anshuman often writes on the subject and his articles have been published in various national and international journal and magazines. He is currently a member of the board of editors of The Quick Look, a publication of the Joint Conduct Committee of the American Bar Association, member of the board of advisors of the RMLNLU Law Review and a member of the board of editors of the blog run by the Centre of Corporate Law, NLU Odisha.

Anshuman has been consistently ranked by Chambers & Partners Asia Pacific (most recently in December 2022) and is currently ranked in Band 3. He has also been recognised by Asialaw as a Distinguished Practitioner and as a Future Leader – Partner by Who’s Who Legal in 2022.
